I found a gold candle holder at Eclectics antique shop in Landrum on Highway 14 and decided to make a stand for a Phoenix for the Gothic mansion. I used 1/8" brass bars and two earrings from my late grandmother's jewelry stash. The base has black aquarium gravel secured with two part resin. The bird is sculpted with Fimo over a wire armature and feathered with dyed feathers from Kimonos Feathers on Etsy. His body is flocked with orange flock and shaded with chalk pastels. I added metallic thread to the ostrich feathers in his tail.

Your phoenix is fabulous - instantly identifiable & just plain gorgeous.
